“Girls for Robots” take a look behind the scenes at Fabmatics

At the end of October, our meeting room “Königsstein” came alive with energy and excitement as a group of schoolgirls from the “Girls for Robots” program visited Fabmatics. Their goal? To learn more about our automation solutions and the fascinating world of robotics.

The “Girls for Robots” program, hosted weekly at the CeTI (Center for Tactile Internet) at TU Dresden, gives girls the opportunity to dive into robotics by programming robots and exploring cutting-edge technology after school.

Together with our product development team, we welcomed the students with a mix of engaging presentations and hands-on experiences. In addition to a small gift – a Fabmatics lunchbox filled with gummy bears and goodies – the girls learned about our work at Fabmatics and why it is so important.

Bringing Automation to Life

Martin Däumler – head of our product development – gave an engaging explanation of the challenges and unique aspects of working in a cleanroom environment, emphasizing the essential role of automation and, in particular, our mobile robots. Magdalena – one of our programmers – shared her personal insights, detailing a day in her life as an SPS software programmer and Technical Coordinator at Fabmatics. She also inspired the students by explaining how her studies paved the way for her career in automation.

The highlight of the visit was hands-on interaction with our robots. In the production hall, our colleague Wenzel introduced the girls to the HERO Scout, the newest mobile robot from our portfolio. With great enthusiasm, the students had the chance to “shake hands” with the HERO Scout and try their hand at teaching a mobile robot. Magdalena then led the group on a tour through the production areas, demonstrating how a robot cell operates. The visit concluded with a peek into the cleanroom, where several HERO robots were busy performing test runs.

A Day of Inspiration and Discovery

It was a pleasure to welcome the “Girls for Robots” to Fabmatics and introduce them to the exciting world of automation. Initiatives like this are a valuable way to inspire future female talent for careers in technology. We extend our thanks to the dedicated coordinators at CeTI for making such real-world excursions possible for their students.

A special thank you goes to our product development team for their outstanding support in making this visit an inspiring and memorable experience.

We look forward to the next opportunity to showcase the world of Fabmatics to curious young minds!
