Event Overview

Fabmatics is proud to host the breakout session “Test Wafers – the Hidden GEMS in Your Fab” as part of the Innovation Forum for Automation 2025.

In the intricate landscape of semiconductor manufacturing, managing non-productive wafers—constituting 30% to 50%, and sometimes up to 100%, of the total Fab WIP—is crucial. These wafers are vital for tool qualification, particle monitoring, handling tests, and other operational needs. While 300 mm fabs typically employ MES software and stocker/sorter hardware, 200 mm fabs often depend on manual processes, increasing complexity.

This breakout session explores the challenges and opportunities in test wafer management, offering actionable insights for improving fab efficiency and automation.

Agenda

Part 1 – Impulse Presentation
Discover the challenges of managing non-productive wafers, including planning, dispatching, usage, and reclaim. Learn about overlooked opportunities to enhance fab efficiency.

Part 2 – Live Simulation
Explore innovative methods for improving fab automation planning, with a focus on test wafer management. This session includes a live simulation of automation equipment.

Part 3 – Use Case & Panel Discussion
Experience a practical use case followed by an engaging panel discussion to foster knowledge sharing and interaction.
